I have been prescribed Sildenafil to treat my Erectile Dysfunction, Now what!?

Every new treatment can be scary that is why we are here to help with anything that you may need.

Sildenafil is the generic name, (Viagra) a medication that treats men diagnosed with erectile dysfunction (ED). It works by dilating the blood vessels in the erectile tissue to be able to obtain and maintain an erection easier. Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor or PDE-5, they cause vasodilation in the penis and lung by blocking the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which results in the prolongation of the action of mediators of vasodilation including nitric oxide.

Nitrates (including isosorbide mononitrate and dinitrate) - It's not safe to use erectile dysfunction medications such as Viagra (sildenafil), or Cialis (tadalafil) if you also use nitrates to treat hypertension or chest pain. Used together, these drugs could cause a severe, potentially fatal drop in your blood pressure.

Do not take more Sildenafil than is prescribed to you. Doing so can result in a dramatic and unsafe drop in blood pressure that may lead to hospitalization.
